Resource Planning
Resource Types
Discussed and demonstrated will be the various resource types supported in Microsoft Project, including Work Resources, Material Resources and Cost Resources. The process by which these resources are created is covered as well.
Max Units in Resource Planning
Max Units will be highlighted, and it's importance in helping define how much of a resources capacity may be reserved for project work, and how much for operational activities.
Resource Pay Rates in Resource Planning
Microsoft Project provides several options for pay rates with Work resources. We have a Standard Rate, Overtime Rate, Cost per use rate, and finally we have rate tables. The rate tables allow different rates to be used for resources at either different times in a single project, or different projects.
Adjusting Resource Time
Adjusting a resources working time is also an item of importance. This is handles via resource calendars. Resource Calendars may be created for your full-time resources, part-time resources, and resources that may have other unique working arrangements or be located in a different country.
