How to Customize Project for the Web with Entities and more

How to Customize Project for the Web with Entities and more

Project for the Web is all new, browser-only app designed to work seamlessly with the Microsoft Teams & Microsoft Dynamics tools. Project for the Web, just like Microsoft Project Online, has the capability of creating custom fields to allow the solution to be configured to meet the specific needs of organizations. For instance, if a Power BI report showing work by Program or Department is needed, these two fields may be added as custom fields to provide this reporting capability.

In this Project for the Web Video:

In this video we walk through creating custom fields and option sets, then placing them on the primary “information” form where the information may be selected for each project. The process to add these entities is much different than in Microsoft Project Online, though the end-result is similar.

In a subsequent video we will demonstrate using Power BI with Project for the Web, including leveraging these newly created fields.

Project for the Web is all new, browser-only app designed to work seamlessly with the Microsoft Teams & Microsoft Dynamics tools. Since it’s the Microsoft Cloud, project managers, sponsors and participants only need a web browser to begin to collaborate with teammates and contribute on projects immediately. The new service for occasional or part-time project managers and self-directed work teams is intuitive like Planner, flexible and fast like Excel, and embedded with MS-Project’s rich scheduling functionality. Since, it’s build on Microsoft’s Power Platform, non-developers can leverage Power BI, Power Apps, Flow and Common Data Service, giving Project for Web wide flexibility.
