Project Server 2010–An error has occurred when saving your project to the server. Please contact your administrator for assistance

Agreed, that this is not the most helpful error message.  The queue error message that I received via email was slightly helpful.  After hours of research I was able to isolate a date field causing the issue.  The bigger issue was, however, that this was a sporadic issue that happened with several projects.  Spending hours on each project was not practical.  In short, the error occurrs when editing a project view Project Web App (Web Editing), and trying to save.  Saving via Project Professional was fine.  Well low and behold, we applied SP1 and the June 2011 Cumulative Update and the issue went away completely!  I love it when a plan comes together.
