We are at Project 2010 Ignite this week and wanted to share a few notes and thoughts with you. I found this very helpful special thanks to Christophe, Jan, and Tad.

First here is a list of cool New Features covered in Day 1:
- Project Pro 2010 (stand alone) can publish to a SharePoint task list also edits from SharePoint lists can be sync’ed back to Project Professional
- Web-Based Project editing with Project Server (Add multiple resources, publish, and more)
- Project Pro Sync to SharePoint
- Five DB scenario for 2010 (Draft, Publish, Archive, Reporting, and Content)All dashboard and workflow contained in Content db
- Multiple business workflows for modeling purposes
- Resource Capacity Tool (out of the box)
- Collapsible Quick Launch (Left-Hand Navigation)
- Project 2010 is ActiveX free (ease of Administration)
- Hire Resource Report with Demand Management
- Task Inspector
- Move Task feature (options) – allows you to move task forward, back, or when resource is available. Pretty neat concept – although need to review white paper on this as it may force constraints.
- Scheduled Duration, Start, and Finish fields
- Inactive feature (allows you to select tasks in the project plan and mark inactive) This is very helpful if you are running what if scenarios or only want to see a Timeline of a certain Phase. Project Professional only. If published the Team Members will not get the task assignments Also can report on Inactive Tasks.
- Team Planner Tools and Resource Planner View: Determine over allocation and resolve manually or level the resource with the tool
- Super Tool Tips (provides helpful information when hovering over commands)
- Contextual Tab (Gives you additional formatting options for the view that you are on – it dynamically changes when you change the view)
- Entry Bar can be hidden if desired
- Column and Row Header highlighting when your focus is on a cell in project
- Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) customizable by the user.
- Alt+T+O opens the Options window
- Print Options and Preview are on the same screen. This is very nice.
- Can set Project Options for individual projects or all New Projects
- User can easily view Baselines within the new Contextual Tab (to display in the Gantt chart)
- You can have Project Prompt for Project Information for new projects
- Timeline view is nice
- Custom Fields are not available in new Timeline views
- Cannot publish timeline to PWA
- Pan and Zoom -- The Timeline feature of 2010 allows you to click and change focus (drag ability for the user)
- Set custom fields rollups to view in project
- Compatibility Mode (both Project Professional 2010 and Project Professional 2007 can connect to Project Server 2010 via the Backwards Compatibility functionality)
- Multi-tendency and hosting functionality has been improved
- PWA now stands for Project Web App (compared to PS07 Project Web Access)
- Progress windows are new from SharePoint 2010 – very helpful.
- Even when the Project 2010 trail version expires – you will be able to save as to downgrade project files (if needed)
- Project 2010 Standalone is able to open Project 2003 and 2007 projects in Project 2010 (and it recognizes it and notes it in the tool)
