Recently, I had a client who was unable to open a schedule in Project Professional by clicking on the icon in Project Center. Normally, when you click on the schedule icon (see below) in Project Center, it launches MS Project Professional and opens the schedule.

Although MS Project Professional would open, an error message would appear about not recognizing the file format. The solution to this (and many other issues) was to get the client’s version of MS Project Professional to match the version of Project Server 2010.
