Creating a Simple Project Attribute In Microsoft Project Online

Custom Fields and Lookup Tables are a major piece of functionality in Project Server and Project Online. Every Microsoft Project Server Consulting engagement we perform includes at least a few Project attributes. This video will walk you through step-by-step creating a simple Project Custom Attribute In Microsoft's PPM Solution that uses a formula to determine schedule variance. It also uses the output of the variance and maps it to a graphical indicator in order to allow the user to determine status based on a graphical KPI. In order to fully test our custom attribute we add it to a Project Center view, populate it in a test project and publish the test project. This is a great way for someone to learn every step of the process required for creating a custom project attribute in either Project Server or Project Online.

Creating a Project Online Major Milestone Report

Creating a major milestone report in Microsoft Project Online can be easy. This video tutorial will walk you through all the steps requied to create one. We'll show you the required task custom field and it's associated lookup table. Then we'll show you how to leverage the custom field for the report. Next we'll launch Excel and add the necessary OData feeds and join them together. Using Risks and Issues with Microsoft Project Online & Project Server

In Microsoft terminology a Risk is something that has the chance to either positively or negatively affect the outcome of a project. An issue is something that is currently affecting a project. Microsoft Project Online and Project Server have inherent Risks and Issues capabilities built into the product that can help project managers track these items as closely as desired. In addition alerts can be attached to these items in the Microsoft PPM solution in order for the Project Manager to receive an email notification the moment a Risk or Issue is either created, or, changes status.
